Off-Grid Solar Cloudgrid Project Deployment in Disaster Vulnerable Low-Income Communities in Bohol island communities

We're excited to announce that through the Cloudgrid Project of Light Of Hope PH, 125 families from Sitio Putik and Nasingin Island in Bohol, Philippines, have transitioned to eco-friendly renewable energy. This venture greatly benefited from the Helping Cents program, a collective effort of Bayer AG and its dedicated employees globally. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Bayer team and, especially, the members of Bayer PRO Social Initiatives (PROSI) for standing with us throughout this Bohol project's deployment.

Cloudgrid Project is aimed at uplifting the lives of less privileged off-the-grid communities while also mitigating climate change through the use of sustainable clean energy technologies. This project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable, Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action).

Nasingin Island is just one of the 7,641 islands in the Philippines, with most small island communities not reachable by the main power grid. This situation has forced families to resort to hazardous and pollutive alternatives for electricity such as diesel/gasoline-powered generators, candles, or kerosene lamps. Through the Cloudgrid Project, we have positively impacted the lives of 625 people and are projected to reduce 16,250 kg of CO2 emissions per year.

Our project aims to showcase the possibilities of utilizing solar energy to provide sustainable, affordable, and inclusive electricity in households. The Cloudgrid Project covers everything from deployment to maintenance of the systems, making it a comprehensive solution for off-the-grid communities. By doing so, we hope to open the minds of people in island communities to the possibilities of utilizing solar energy in their households.
