OFF-GRID SOLAR HOME SYSTEMS DEPLOYMENT IN DISASTER VULNERABLE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES IN SURIGAO PROVINCE, MINDANAO

Light Of Hope PH aims to build resilient and sustainable communities, and help mitigate climate change through the use of clean renewable energy technologies by uplifting the lives of the underprivileged off-the-grid communities.

During the second grant cycle of the BIMP-EAGA–Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (BKCF), a total of 62 project proposals were submitted. Out of these, eight projects were selected, including our project titled “Off-grid Solar Home Systems Deployment in Disaster Vulnerable Low-income Communities in Surigao Province, Mindanao.” We are thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with GGGI Philippines, who will serve as both the project partner and the fund manager for this initiative.

Meeting with GGGI Philippines, with GGGI Country Representative Mr. Juhern Kim

GGGI Philippines is a renowned organization with expertise in promoting sustainable economic growth and development. Their involvement as our project partner will be instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of our goals. Additionally, their role as the fund manager will guarantee effective financial management throughout the project.

Being selected for this opportunity signifies recognition and support for our project’s objectives and potential impact. Our focus on deploying off-grid solar home systems in disaster-vulnerable, low-income communities in Surigao Province, Mindanao, demonstrates our commitment to addressing pressing energy needs while considering the region’s unique challenges.

This will be a 2 years project that will positively impact the lives of 1000 family beneficiaries (5000 people), in the island communities of Surigao del Norte Province and environmentally help reduce 130 tCO2 emissions per year.
